Großglockner High Alpine Road – a view of superlatives

The imposing 48-km-long mountain road connects the Austrian counties of Salzburg and Carinthia (Kärnten). High-alpine passes offer impressive views of the nearby mountains and valleys. Those who reach the highest peak of the alpine road, at 2,500m, can let out a “Berg Heil” (a German greeting at the summit).
